The Micromax Canvas A1 smartphone was launched last year as a budget offering, as some of us might be aware. The company has now released an upgraded version of the handset known as the Canvas A1 AQ4502, which features the exact same hardware but with double the storage at 8GB and a newer version of Android.
This can be expanded with the help of a microSD card, so the limited storage shouldn't be a concern for potential buyers. This is perhaps one of the few OEM branded Android phones to be running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, as most new phones are currently featuring Android 5.0.2 (with the exception of the LG G4).
The handset will be available for purchase soon carrying a price tag of Rs 6,039. We expect the first gen model to be replaced by the Canvas A1 AQ4502 in the lineup so as to avoid confusion in the market. Interested buyers should be able to get the device for just a touch under Rs 6,000 in the markets, considering the sort of competition there is today.

Online retailers are yet to list the new Canvas A1, but we should see that changing in due time. We must mention that while the new model features Android 5.1 out of the box, the last gen model packs Android 4.4, although the company has promised to send out the Android 5.1 update to the handset as well.
